In My Own Mind 4 has a deep rich purple, lavender and pink border of hand dyed fabric. The center section, also hand dyed and printed fabric, is lighter shades of the same colors with the addition of bronze, brown and blues. The quilt measures 29 inches wide and 36 inches high. Mary Fisher has created the central figure in this quilt from wool fiber and hand made paper. It is further embellished with yarns which are added by hand. There is a sleeve attached to the back for easy hanging. The artist statement reads as follows: "In my own mind I am listening to the couple in the restaurant. They banter about the menu, about gaining weight. They lower their voices to discuss their daughter's poor choice in men. They do not know I am a voyeur, listening as she says to him, over her coffee, "Will we ever make love again?""
