This poster bears the face of a woman from Africa, most certainly a caregiver, in a photograph taken by Mary Fisher. The signed poster is 18 inches by 24 inches and is ready for framing. The quilt in this poster is from the "Faces From my Heart" exhibit from the 2009 International Quilt Festival in Houston. Deep reds and forest greens on fabric hand painted and printed by Mary Fisher create a warm background for the face of this loving woman. The artist statement reads as follows: Pilgrims on the road to AIDS know the highest respect and deepest veneration is reserved for those called "caregivers." They are everywhere but rarely noticed because they command no fanfare, seek no public adulation, ask nothing for themselves. From hovels to hospices, they pour out care as if it came from their own life blood. Indeed, it does. The shed their lives to bring comfort to others.
