THIS QUILT HAS BEEN SOLD. The face of an African child is framed in fabric dyed and printed by Mary Fisher. Subtle sage greens with a brilliant orange-red border combine in this fabric which has been block printed by Mary Fisher. Completed size is 39" wide by 45 3/4" high. Sleeve on back for easy hanging. This quilt is part of the "Faces From my Heart" collection. Mary Fisher takes photographs when she travels in Africa and uses photo-transfer to move them to her fabric. The face is framed with a border of beads. The artist statement is as follows: "There's no instruction manual for parenthood," someone famously observed. I know. I've tried raising two children. But then comes a motherless child. Her father never knew she'd been born; her mother knew, but was too ill to care. And so the child wonders why we see her as someone else's child when she belongs to no one. There's no "someone else," only me and you.
