"She's a Mother" bears the photo-transferred face of an African woman photographed by Mary Fisher. The background is primarily red cotton fabric, embellished by block prints from Mary Fisher's collection. The completed size is 37" wide by 45" high. Machine and hand quilting complete this piece from the "Faces from my Heart" Collection. A sleeve on the back makes hanging easy. The artist statement for this quilt is as follows: She does not always adore caring for children who are sick or ungrateful, or other family members who hand her irresponsible duties. But she always adores being a mother. Because this one word , "mother," says she loves maternally: fiercely and gently, protectively and with discipline, full of hope and full of sacrifice. She's a mother, full of grace and truth.
