A Sketch in Time by Beaney & Littlejohn Book 12
Sketchbooks are an essential tool for most textile artists and they are as varied as the individuals who use them. Walk this path as Beaney and Littlejohn share their thoughts and suggestions. The best thing about this book is the disclaimer made on the first page. They say this: "There is no right or wrong way to use a sketchbook and the most useful are those that are an honest reflection of the thoughts, observations and ideas of the maker." How can you go wrong embarking on the sketch process with that freedom? Beaney and Littlejohn share copious photos of their inspirational sketchbooks with information on the processes involved.

A Tale of Two Stitches by Beaney & Littlejohn Book 11
A Tale of Two Stitches is a great look at the use of two stitches which are favorites of Beaney and Littlejohn. First is Sorbello stitch and second is Lock stitch. Extending the boundaries of using one stitch per work can be of great value to artists. Beaney and Littlejohn do not use this technique to constrain creativity but to apply lateral thinking and encourage new ways of looking at hand stitching. Each stitch is explained in detail with excellent directions and drawings. As in all of the books in this series, there are gorgeous photographs of completed works by both authors.
